- Course objectives
- The course focuses on a systematic deepening of the morphological level of the Russian language. It offers a comprehensive review and expansion of knowledge concerning the grammatical categories of nouns, adjectives, pronouns, numerals, and verbs. Emphasis is placed on the instruction of irregular, unproductive, and hybrid forms, as well as on the students’ ability to recognize and use less frequent grammatical structures of contemporary Russian.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- systematically describe the morphological system of contemporary Russian;
- correctly form and use both regular and irregular morphological structures;
- analyze and explain grammatical phenomena in authentic texts;
- apply the acquired knowledge in teaching Russian as a foreign language. - Syllabus
- 1. Declension of nominal word classes: nouns, adjectives, pronouns, numerals.
- 2. Verbal categories and aspectual system: aspect, tense, mood, voice; verb + infinitive constructions.
- 3. Irregular and unproductive forms: irregular declension and conjugation, borrowings, hybrid paradigms.
- 4. Participles: formation of active and passive participles, usage in context.
- 5. Transgressives: formation and usage in modern Russian, comparison with Czech.
