Course objectives
The course provides the students with the information about selected socio-professional groups, which developed in mediaeval urban and rural environments in the course of Middle Ages and Modern Times, and it will explain the basic realia of their existence and the reflection in society.
Learning outcomes
After having completed the course, the student will be able to define the term “professional and socio-professional group” and to describe historical background for the formation of particular socio-professional groups, their social and economic status, reflection in the period society, and documents in folk culture.
Syllabus
  • 1. Definition of terms.
  • 2. Identical structure of explanation for each professional and socio-professional group: history, social and economic status, reflection in the period society, and documents in folk culture, scientific interest in a particular group (millers, teachers, farm workers, shepherds, dishonourable and itinerant occupations criminal groups and prosecution of them).
