Course objectives
The purpose of the course is to give an overview of linguistic methods and subjects in French syntax.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, a student should be able to :
- identify and summarize the topics studied ;
- write an essay deepening one of the studied topics in the semester.

Teaching methods
Lectures, class discussion, group projects.
Assessment methods
Essay to be written at the end of semester. The essay is very different depending on the students' field of study. Students in Master French Language and literature are expected to focus on theoretical points, whereas French didactics students are essentially required to write a well-argued pedagogical lesson plan on a subject covered in class.
