Course objectives
Development of Greek culture in the Classical and Hellenistic periods; development of architecture, sculpture, painting and crafts. Understanding and analysis of styles, artists and masterpieces. At the end of the course students should have a systematic knowledge of greek classical and hellenistic art, of its stylistic evolution, of the main archaeological materials and contemporary theoretical opinions of specialists
Syllabus
  • The lecture will explain the most important periods of the developement of the Classical and Hellenistic Greek art. Achievements of the ideal naturalistic style and the principles of kalokagathia and the ulterior developement in the 4th century and the Hellenistic period. The lecture is followed by seminar on Greek art.

Development of Greek culture in the Classical and Hellenistic periods; development of architecture, sculpture, painting and crafts. Understanding and analyzes of styles, artists and masterpieces.
Syllabus
  • The lecture will explain the most important periods of the developement of the Classical and Hellenistic Greek art. Achievements of the ideal naturalistic style and the principles of kalokagathia and the ulterior developement in the 4th century and the Hellenistic period. The lecture is followed by seminar on Greek art.

Development of Greek culture in the Classical and Hellenistic periods; development of architecture, sculpture, painting and crafts. Understanding and analysis of styles, artists and masterpieces. At the end of the course students should have a systematic knowledge of greek classical and hellenistic art, of its stylistic evolution, of the main archaeological materials and contemporary theoretical opinions of specialists

  • The lecture will explain the most important periods of the developement of the Classical and Hellenistic Greek art. Achievements of the ideal naturalistic style and the principles of kalokagathia and the ulterior developement in the 4th century and the Hellenistic period. The lecture is followed by seminar on Greek art.

Course objectives
The development of Greek culture in the geometric and archaic periods; the development of architecture, sculpture, painting and crafts.
Syllabus (in Czech)
  • Klasické a helénistické období. Přednáška doplněná seminářem pro klasickou archeologii navazuje na výuku v semestru podzim 2000. Jejím obsahem je výklad o architektuře, sochařství a malířství klasického a helénistického období. Důraz je kladen na vysvětlení specifiky vývoje řecké kultury v klasickém období, estetických principů, jejich proměně v průběhu 4. století a v helénistické době. Na přednášku tématicky navazuje obsah semináře klasické archeologie.
