Course objectives
At the end of course students should be able to:
understand and explain special museological terminology and system of museology
understand special and common museum legislation
work with special and literature
acquaiting students with ethics of museum's work
Learning outcomes
- to know and apply basic terminology of museology and litherature;
- to describe the structure of museology, its personalities and training centres in the Czech Republic and abroad;
- to summarize the key professional organisations in museum work
Syllabus
  • 1) Role of museology in the system of science, relationship to fundamental scientific disciplines, the subject of museology, metodology, system of museology. 2) Basic museological concepts – the foreign representatives. 3) Basic museological concepts – the representatives of Czech lands. 4) Museography (Applied Museology) I. – selection and tesauration. 5) Museography (Applied Museology) II. – communication and presentation. 6) Museological literature – journals, dictionaries, bibliographies. 7) Museum – determination of the term and its individual concepts, the role and function of museum in the conteporary society. 8) Organizations of museums and museum professionals and museologists. 9) Tuition of museology in the Czech lands and foreign countries. 10) Museum ethics, the codes of ethics.

Lecture, the course will be completed by an oral examination, a term paper on the assigned topic, which will be communicated at the beginning of the semester, mastery of the lecture material, knowledge of a work from the assigned literature.
