- Course objectives
- The course should commemorate the 250th anniversary of J. S. Bach's dead (1685-1750). It should sum up the problems of Bach's personality. It will follow the new point of view of Bach research. J. S. Bach will be seen on the background of main music personalities of 18th century, i.e. Georg Friedrich Händel, Antonio Vivaldi, contemporary French, Italian and German music tendencies. He will be confronted with Georg Philipp Telemann, the generation of Bach's sons and the Rococo composers. We will also attempt the typology of J. S. Bach within his contemporaries.
