- Course objectives
- The comparision of the life in the hellenistic great monarchies and in the later Roman Empire. The "globalizations" of an ancient world; the changes the values of life during the development of Roman state from the form of republic to the monarchy and absolutism; the style of life in the late Antiquity, the influence of the Christianity on the ancient style of life, the influence of the values of antiquity on the Christianity.
- Syllabus
- 1) Hellenistic world, its cultural and religious syncretism, its influence on the Greece system of values of life. 2) Hellenistic philosophy and the religious systems. 3) The basic values of life of the citizen of the Roman Republic. The political ideas of this age. 4) The social policy of the Roman Republic. (Only the bred and games, or something more? 5) The citizens and slaves. 6)The citizens and foreigners. Has it been in the Antiquity xenofobia? 7) Why was the republic changed into principate< 8)The life style on the top point of the development of Roman Empire //between the modesty und luxury 9) The beginnings of so called dominat 10) The changes in this time, the life of the great possessores and the poor people the citizens are definitly beeing subditi. 11)The development of Christianity. A question of its part of the destroying of Roman Empire. 12) The modus vivendi of the ancient world and the barbarians. 13) The last Romans. 14) The comparision of the late Antiquity and the world of today.
