Course objectives
The content of lectures will be oriented on development and changes of modern dance and its most significant authors. Special attention will be dedicated to contemporary dance, which - except other things - requires also knowledge of theoretical concepts by individual choreographers
Syllabus
  • Curriculum/Topics of lectures:
  • 1) Introduction to studies of dance, basic concepts and their correct interpretation
  • 2) Classic dance versus modern dance?
  • 3) Isadora Duncan and her "refusal" of classic dance
  • 4) Pioneers of modern dance
  • 5) Dance as an individual testimony of dancer
  • 6) "Tanztheater" and its forms
  • 7) Avant-gardistic dance - Analysis of the dance essence
  • 8) Contemporary dance - expressions of the actual dance, the significant authors and their dance-formations
  • 9) International festivals of dance
  • 10) Modern and contemporary dance in CZ
