- Interest in the Vietnamese Language and Culture. Certification from the course is not contingent on knowledge of the Vietnamese language. The course is open to all who would like to familiarize themselves with the Vietnamese language, thought, and culture.

- Course objectives
- In the subject of Vietnamese Language, Thought, and Culture in the Cognitive Approach, you will have the opportunity to delve into the fundamentals of the Vietnamese language and culture. During the Vietnamese language lesson without an intermediary language, you will be able to try understanding the Vietnamese language based on deriving meaning from practical situations. In subsequent lessons, we will contemplate and discuss the differences between Czech and Vietnamese cultural customs and the transformations in Vietnamese society over time. We will focus on the interconnectedness of the Vietnamese language and thought based on cognitive linguistics. We will also collectively consider how extralinguistic realities of life in Vietnamese society are reflected in the Vietnamese language. The discussed topics will include the position of women in Vietnamese society and in the family, interesting moments from Vietnamese history and literature, and the influence of societal circumstances on the Vietnamese linguistic worldview.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completing the course, the student will be able to: Establish contact with a Vietnamese speaker in the Vietnamese language. Solve specific situations in communication with Vietnamese speakers with understanding. Identify the specifics of the Vietnamese language, thought, and culture. Engage in informed discussions about the Vietnamese language, thought, and culture.

Specific Differences Between Vietnamese and Czech Language 9. Position of Women in Vietnamese Society and Family, and Its Influence on the Formation of Lexicon Related to Women 10. Chapters from Vietnamese Language and Literature 11. Group Presentations and Collective Discussion on Topics about Vietnamese Language, Thought, and Culture Literature: Will always be provided well in advance of the session in the study materials.
