The course is open to full-time Bachelor's and five-year Master's students, with the exception of the Pedagogy and Social Education and Counselling programmes.
The course welcomes anyone who wants to learn how to pass on their knowledge and skills to others. In the course we will develop general lecturing skills. Students can use acquired lecturing skills almost anywhere in practice, for example, in popularising science, corporate training, or preparing leisure activities.

Course objectives
The CORE055 course will broaden the profile of a Masaryk University graduate with the knowledge and skills necessary for planning and implementing a wide range of educational activities. The course will guide participants through the entire process of preparing educational activities, from considering the needs of participants through the choice among a wide range of modern teaching methods (discussion, explanation, ICT) and their integration into a meaningful educational program. The students will try out the different techniques to grow their theoretical understanding and practical teaching skills.
Learning outcomes
The skills acquired will enable students to: 1. Choose well what they want to convey concerning the needs of the participants. 2. Implement learning activities using up-to-date teaching approaches. 3. Explain the strengths and weaknesses of using different educational methods in specific situations. 4. Design a short-term educational activity or a longer-term educational program. 5. Plan educational activities and evaluate their suitability and appropriateness.

  • 1. For whom? (needs of participants in training activities) 2. What do I want to convey? (objectives of the training activities) 3. How to engage? (motivation and activation) 4. How to explain something? (demonstration, explanation, simplification) 5. How to ask questions well? (methods working with dialogue) 6. How to encourage participants to work independently? (worksheets, ICT) 7. How to encourage learning among participants? (group work methods) 8. How to combine everything into a program? (dramaturgy of short-term activities) 9. How to combine everything into a program? (dramaturgy of long-term activities 10. How to learn what participants take away (feedback and reflection work)
Teaching methods
Dialogical teaching, group work, synchronous individual participation through ICT (e.g. Jamboard, Nearpod, Padlet, etc.).
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Na seminářích je povinná aktivní účast. Po každém semináři studenti plní krátký úkol, který jim umožní se k probranému tématu vrátit a prakticky si je vyzkoušet. Tyto úkoly se odevzdávají do e-learningové podpory kurzu. K absolvování semináře je třeba splnit docházku (povolena 1 neomluvená absence) a všechny týdenní úkoly.
