- Course objectives
- From spirituals to gospels; from minstrel shows to the Grand Ole Opry; from Oh Susanna to Blowing in the Wind; from New Orleans to New York. Your first chance to understand the sounds of the Dakota cedar flute, Appalachian banjo, Southern chicken scratch, swamps wail and above all, American folk music. No Musical background necessary. (Who says these terms are not related to music!: Jambalaya, Blue Grass, Shape Notes, Gator Stomp, Devil's Box, Arkansas Traveler, Buck and Wing, Corrido, Fifth Peg, Tail Piece, Lead Belly, R&B).
