Course objectives
Systhematic survey of Romanesque and Early Gothic painting and sculpture from the end of the Late Antiquity to the middle of the 13th century with special regard to the development in BOhemia and Moravia. The attention concentrates on formal developmnet, function of wroks of art, iconography as related to the period philosophy, theology and devotion. Including excursions in Prague.

  • 1. End of the Late Antiquity, Carolingian art.
  • 2. Romanesque art.
  • 3. Romanesque art in Bohemia and Moravia.
  • 4. Beginnings of Gothic architecture and sculpture.
  • 5. French Classical Gothic cathedral.
  • 6. Classical Gothic Sculpture befor 1200.
  • 7. Classical Gothic Sculpture around 1200 - Antiquity-inspired style.
  • 8. Byzantine painting.
  • 9. Excursions in Prague.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Přednáška (kredit B) je ukončena zkouškou(písemný test).
