- Course objectives
- This course focuses on various forms of Czech cabaret theatre. It concentrates on different forms of the cabaret genre in the political and social historical changes in the Czech Repulik: literary cabaret, various forms of composed cabaret programs, variety shows, satiric plays, etc. The main attention is given to three theatres (Osvobozené divadlo, Divadlo satiry, Satirické divadlo Večerní Brno), which belong to the best productions in this genre.

- 1. Genre of cabaret and its specific features 2. Origin of cabaret and its first stages in 1910s 3. Červená sedma and Rokoko. 4. Avantgarde cabarets (Frejka's Dada, Osvobozené divadlo of Voskovec and Werich, Burian's Červené eso). 5. The original methods of the Osvobozené divadlo theatre and its significance for the further theatric development 6. Divadlo satiry. 7. 1950s (variety shows, Jelínek's Skandál v obrazárně; foreign influences: Hikmet's Byl Filip Filípek nebo nebyl?, polish cabarets Syrena and Wagabunda; Werich and Horníček in Divadlo ABC). 8. The golden 60s: rebirth of cabaret and satire (Rokoko of Darek Vostřel and Jiří Šašek, beginnings of Ivan Vyskočil and Jiří Suchý in Reduta, Suchý + Šlitr and Šimek + Grossman in Semafor, J. R. Pick's Paravan, work of Miroslav Horníček) 9. Satirické divadlo Večerní Brno. 10. The period of normalization (1969 - 1989): political repression of cabaret genre (Lasica and Satinský, Just brothers, Jan Burian and Jiří Dědeček etc.) 11. Cabaret today?

- 2 hodiny přednáška, kolokvium, 2kr +1 za zkoušku způsoby ukončení: krátká seminární práce či esej o rozsahu nejméně 5 normostran na libovolné téma (ovšem schválené vyučujícím) z oblasti českého kabaretu nebo ústní pohovor, k němuž musí posluchač přečíst nejméně 5 kabaretních textů dle vlastního výběru
