- Course objectives
- The course offers information on the origin and development of ethnomusicology and on the fundamental works of European and world production. The course tackles questions of theory, the history and the contemporary situation of the primary source material and the editorial practice. It explains characteristic song types and genres, and folk instrumental music. It also traces the changes in the present-day etnomusicological research.

- history of etnomusicological research in Czech lands, the collecting and collectors of folk songs, institutions and editorial work, methods and techniques used in field research, audio and audiovisual documentation, cataloguing texts and tunes of folk songs, theory of folk songs, instruments used in performing folk music, types of music bands, types and genres of songs, contemporary melodiousness and song repertoire composition, folk song as a source of inspiration, popularization, second existence of folk song, folklorism
