- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to give a general overview of Italian art and culture in the Baroque period and a overview of relation between the Baroque art, the theatre and literatury, from Bernini and Caravaggio to Tiepolo. The course should be help to orientate in the Italian art and culture, and to acquire a general knowledge of the Italian masters and of the regional art schools. The student should be able to recognize the different artistic productions and autors in the right cultural context and historical period. He should learn to describe the artwork with richest as possible Italian technical vocabulary.

- Teaching methods
- Lectures. The course is based on theoretical and linguistic preparation of the student and on visual presentation of Italian artworks. The student should focus both on the visual material of artworks and on the kritic texts listed in the bibliography and during the lessons.
- Assessment methods
- Exam: oral presentation of an or more artworks of an artist during the lessons, and short written text with the description of the artworks in Italian language. The argument of the presentation can chosen by among the topics of the semestral course. The attendance to the course is recommended.
