Předpoklady
The only pre-requisite is at least the A2 competence in English language. According to the capacity, students of other departments can enroll in the course.

Cíle předmětu
The course deals with the situation of the Lesser Used Languages, also called Regional Languages, in the European Union. The perspective of the project is both linguistic and sociological. At the end of the course students should be able to understand, interpret and crate materials on the European, national and regional policies and sociolinguistic features of the languages involved.

  • The topics of the course will be: • language status, power and prestige, • attitudes on minority languages and groups, • language policies for minority languages, • sociolinguistic domains of regional languages, • endogenous and exogenous linguistic features, • economic and social power of languages.

Výukové metody
The teaching approach is CLIL based (Content and Language Integrated Learning) with peculiar attention to the elaboration of tasks for the development of cognitive, cultural, content and communicative competences in the field of minority languages. Classes will be held in English in a computer room with the support of digital technologies.
Metody hodnocení
The course will be taught to the students of the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures. The number of credits is 2 with a Z (započet) completion. The exam consists in the production of a project work. Attendance is compulsory.
