Course objectives
The seminar lessons focus on getting acquainted with forms of Czech fine art from the beginning of so-called "standardization" to the turn of the millennium. The themes are divided into two relatively different periods, from 1970-1985 and from 1985-2000.

The main developmental streams of unofficial Czech art are observed in the context of the development of foreign art. The current creative positions of key personalities of post-war art and lesser-known artists are analyzed.

The lesson introduces basic theoretical concepts, published texts and concrete visual forms of creative personalities' outputs. It motivates students to unassisted analysis, collecting not always readily available material, even in the living environment of art-studios and exhibitions, its interpretation and presentation.

Emphasis is placed on work with literature and historical sources, collection of material, communication with the creators of the work. Students are led to visual identification of individual creative positions, reflecting the current state of research.

The local South Moravian context is remarkably reflected, also through the local art collections.

The seminar is based on a combination of the teacher's explanations and active student work. Prerequisite for passing is active participation and presentation of knowledge.
