- Course objectives
- The course presents the main historical periods of French literature in Africa and the Middle East. This course is completed by the presentation of several eminent authors.
- Learning outcomes
- Student will be able to:
- to identify and summarize important features of this literature
- identify the main aesthetic features of this literature in the texts - Syllabus
- The course is organised into 4 areas of study of varying intensity: 1/ French literature in Africa and the Middle East, historical and literary elements 2/French colonial empire and early writings 3/Independence: movements, currents and genres. 4/Contemporary writing

- Teaching methods
- Lecture: description of the literary field, explanation and definition of basic notions and their demonstration on concrete texts by concrete authors. Seminar: Application of the acquired theoretical knowledge on authentic texts. In the form of a presentation the students show their capability to connect their theoretical knowledge while working with a concrete text.

- Seminar paper and oral exam. Students are expected to participate actively in the seminars.
