- General Biology (programme PřF, N-BI, specialization Ekotoxikologie)
- Course objectives
- I this course, students will learn basic methods of human and ecological risk assessment with practical applications. After this course, student should be able to: - define human and environmental risk assessment methods - define main exposure routes (oral, inhalational, dermal, dietary exposure, ...) - characterize and quantify significant potential risks - solve practical case study with risk quantification from define exposure specification - recognize main exposure factors, which have significant effect in total risk assessment - interpret acceptable carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risk level.
- Syllabus
- Introduction - basic concept definition: hazard, risk, risk assessment and risk management.
- Reasons of risk assessment application: local, regional and global effects, risk perception.
- Main risk assessment component: hazard identification, dose - response relationships, exposure analysis, risk characterization, risk management.
- Methods of HUMAN RISK quantification: pharmacokinetic models, carcinogenic a non-carcinogenic risk assessment methods – detail procedure, software applications (PC lecture room - RECETOX)
- Ecological and environmental risk assessment
- Case study (every students will have original study subject).
