Course objectives
At the end of the course, the students will understand the structure and functioning of forest ecosystems on different levels of hierarchy; they will know major species of forest trees in the Czech Republic, their biology and habitat preferences; they will understand the importance of different site factors for different forest types; they will be able to look at different aspects of forest ecosystems (vegetation, invertebrates, birds, fungi etc.); they will understand the holocene history of forests in Central Europe; they will know the main types of forest vegetation in the Czech Republic and their habitat preferences.
