- The course is intended for students who want to get acquainted with plants providing waste processing, sorting and possible recycling. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the process of wastewater treatment. Students will also learn about the production of electricity and heat and their distribution. During the excursions, students will visit four plants from the following: (i) the biogas plant in Velešovice, (ii) the wastewater treatment plant in Modřice, (iii) water treatment plant, (iv) composting plant in Náměšť, (v) SAKO Brno, (vi) myco, s.r.o. in Bzenec, (vii) Dukovany nuclear power plant, (viii) Brno heating plant. The aim of the excursions is to link the principles of sustainable development with practice and thus contribute to their positive impact on society and the environment.
- Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to describe the process of wastewater treatment and list the conditions for discharging wastewater to the sewer. Students will be able to describe the process of treating biodegradable waste in a composting plant or using it to produce energy in a biogas plant. Students will be able to describe how to prevent, sort and manage waste effectively.
