Anesthesiology, Intensive Medicine and Pain Management

This programme aims to train high-quality, independent, scientific and academic professionals in three primary sub-specialisations: Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care and Algesiology, but also extending into inter-disciplinary collaboration (e.g. Clinical Pharmacology).
The graduates are expected to be able to conduct independent scientific tasks and develop research procedures. In a large number of cases, the clinical practice is supported by basal or pre-clinical research.
Due to the nature of the field in question, the spectrum of research topics is remarkably wide.

- Výstupy z učení
Absolvent je po úspěšném ukončení studia schopen:
- construct hypotheses based on the state-of-art studies of the specific issue
- evaluate the ethical aspects of the planned research (formulation of properly informed consent of the research participants)
- select a relevant methodology for the given research task
- plan the primary attributes of the studied set (power analysis)
- collect and archive data in accordance with current legal regulations
- process data and form manuscripts
- present data at international forums, and communicate with professional journals regarding the review process
- perform critical analysis of scientific texts
- pass on personal experience regarding the research methodology to the colleagues
- Uplatnění absolventa
The doctoral degree programme graduates can use their resulting qualifications in job positions, such as heads of staff at clinical facilities, where research is conducted (e.g. faculty hospitals, medical faculties, research institutes). In a more general context, they are prepared to perform all of the tasks relevant to scientific endeavours, i.e. they are able to solve conceptual questions, conduct scientific-organisational and pedagogical work, therefore, they can also apply as academic staff at medical faculties.
- Praxe
The students are regularly involved in the experimental practice of both laboratory and clinical nature, and that is both within the faculty infrastructure, as well as within the shared infrastructure of the contracted medical facilities (FN u sv. Anny Brno, FN Brno etc.).
The doctoral students are also regularly involved in the grant projects and participate in teaching (within a limited scope of max. 150 hours/4 years of study).
