Abstract (in English)
The beginning of the modern Czech Fenno-Ugristics of the 20th century was linked with the Prague Linguistic Circle, namely its members Pavel Bujnák, Vladimír Skalička and Ľudovít Novák. Bujnák and Novák were initialy led by the famous scholars E. N. Setälä and A. Sauvageot. Neverthless, their interests have later changed. Only Skalička has stayed on working on phonology and above all typology of the Uralic languages. Skalička's disciple Václav Blažek has continued his researches, mainly dealing with Uralic glottochronology and ethymology, supported by his PhD student Lucie Hofírková. The Uralic typology researches are presently conducted by the young scholar Petra Hebedová. Besides the linguistic Finno-Ugristics, there have been at least three explorers in the field of cultural history of the Uralic peoples: Richard Pražák, Václav Marek and František Grüll.
