Using the stabilometric system Fitro Sway check we were detecting the level of static balancing activities in 19 10 to 13-year-old female sport gymnasts. We chose handstand as the basic static balancing structure of sport gymnastics. We characterized the optimal handstand performance using three different parameters – we evaluated the quality of the handstand performance, the length of the performance and deflection values COP while balancing in the static position. We were finding out the relationship between the balancing ability as a latent precondition of this movement structure and a quality of movement ability based on static balance. To find out the relationship we used Pearson’s correlation coefficient which showed the strongest dependence (r = 0.3995) between static balance ability and deflection sizes COP in handstand. The strength of the dependence confirms that it is impossible to perform handstand of required quality without a certain level of balancing ability. The results show that erect stand on one leg is a certain indicator of future development of balance. However, it does not affect all factors limiting the balance maintenance. ER -
