The main focus of this study was to compare two semi-quantitative methods for collecting the leeches. The methods are a widely used kick-sampling (three minutes), and the hand collecting, preferably recommended to record the leeches. On each site, a line of 10 m sampling was chosen and the optimum time of hand collecting was recorded. To obtain significant diversity and abundance data, thirty minutes proved satisfactory. Kick-sampling proved to be unsuitable for collecting leeches, only 9 species were found out of the total of 17 species recorded. Both numbers of species and numbers of individuals differed significantly.

Hlavním cílem této studie bylo srovnání dvou semikvantitativních metod pro odběr pijavic. Jde o široce využívanou metodu kick-sampling (kopaný vzrorek) a ruční sběr, který je doporučovanou metodou odběru pijavic. Na každém odběrovém místě byla vytyčena 10 m odběrová linie a byl zaznamenán optimální čas odběru. Pro zjištění celkové diverzity a abundance postačoval 30ti minutový odběr při ručním sběru. Kopaný vzorek se ukázal jako metoda nevhodná pro odběr pijavic, pouze 9 druhů z celkových 17 nalezených bylo zjištěno touto metodou. Zjištěný počet druhů a jedinců a mezi metodami signifikantně lišil.
