Abstract

Hypertext Atlases of Pathology are available on the web (see http://atlases.muni.cz) since 1998. Hypertext Atlases of Pathology are available on the web (see http://atlases.muni.cz) since 1998 with 25000 of registered users.The atlases contain more than 9000 images (histological, macroscopic, clinical and pictures from various imaging methods). A new virtual microscope interface will be presented. The interface is based on jpeg2000 compression that enables fast access to stored images and reduces disk usage of the whole atlases. Virtual microscope positions can be stored in the memory and users can navigate quickly back and forward similarly to web pages. All these features are available through any web browser without need to install any additional software. In addition to the current atlases (Dermatopathology, Fetopathology, Pathology of the Newborn and Bone Marrow), an interdisciplinary Atlas of Pathology for pregraduate students of Medicine is under development. It will contain full size annotated virtual slides, macroscopical and clinical pictures, images from MRI and CT scanners and videos. The Atlases are free of charge, but registration is required. In order to ease the access, the Atlases are connected to 15 national academic identity federations. Users who are members of institutions connected to that identity federations can use theirs home credentials (e.g. username/password) without revealing them to the Atlases. The atlases can serve not only to the students as a source of information, but they can be used by teachers as a source of teaching material.

Hypertextové Atlasy Pathologie jsou k dispozici na webu (http://atlases.muni.cz) od roku 1998. Mají 25 000 registrovaných uživatelů, obsahují přes 9000 obrazů histologických, makroskopických, klinických a obrazy z různých zobrazovacích metod. Bude představeno nové rozhraní pro virtuální mikroskop. Je založeno na jpeg2000 kompresním formátu a umožňuje rychlý přístup k uloženým obrazům a snížení nároků na úložný prostor disku. Polohy virtuálního mikroskopu mohou být uloženy do paměti a uživatelé se v obraze mohou pohybovat dopředu a zpět podobně jako ve webovém prohlížeči. Kromě současných atlasů (Dermatopatologie, Fetopatologie, Patologie novorozence, Fetopatologie a Patologie kostní dřeně) je vyvíjen interdisciplinární Atlas patologie pro studenty medicíny. Bude obsahovat anotované obrazy pro virtuální mikroskop, makroskopické a klinické obrazy, obrazy z CT a MR a videa. Atlasy jsou zdarma, ale je požadována registrace. Pro usnadnění přístupu jsou atlasy propojeny do 15 národních federací identit. Atlasy mohou sloužit nejen studentům jako zdroj informací, ale mohou být využity i učiteli jako zdroj výukového materiálu.
