TY - JOUR ID - 1087985 AU - Holubova, Z. - Sommer, L. - Moos, M. - Kuta, Jan PY - 2012 TI - Simultaneous determination of metal traces using SPE preconcentration on Amberlite XAD-7 by ICP-MS in environmental water and sample ecotoxicology assessment. JF - Fresenius Environmental Bulletin VL - 21 IS - 10A SP - 3127-3135 EP - 3127-3135 PB - PARLAR SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS (P S P) SN - 10184619 KW - Solid Phase Extraction KW - Amberlite XAD-7 KW - ICP-MS and Waters KW - Ecotoxicology N2 - This study has been focused on the determination of nine trace elements Be-9, V-51, Co-59, Ni-60, Y-89, led, (208)pb, Th-232 and U-238 by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) in natural waters and water samples after mining and processing of uranium. An ICP-MS spectrometer Agilent 7500ce, with a plasma generator of 27.12 MHz, power output of 1500 W and concentric nebulizer MicroMist (TM) with a cooled Scott chamber was used. The nonspectral interferences were eliminated by using a solution of internal standards Li-6 for Be-9, Sc-45 (V-51), Ge-72 (Co-59, Ni-60, (89)y), Rh-103 (Cd-111), Bi-209 ((208)pb, Th-232, U-238) The spectral interferences were eliminated by using the Helium collision cell during measurement. Monitored interfering elements were K+, Na+, NH4+ Ca2+, Mg2+, Al3+, Fe3+ and Cl-, HCO3-, SO42-, PO43-. For the preconcentration polymeric sorbent Amberlite XAD-7 was used. Elements were retained as their chelates with different organic reagents: 4-(2-pyridylazo) resorcinol (PAR), 3,4-Dihydroxy-9,10-dioxo-2-anthracenesulfonic acid sodium salt (ALS), 8-Hydroxyquinoline-5-sulphonic acid (8HQS) and Ammonium pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate (APDC).The sorption process was studied under various conditions with respect to pH. Sorbents were also conditioned with different surfactants: Benzyldimethyltetradecylammonium chloride (Zephyramine), 1-etoxycarbonyl-pentadecyl-trimethyl-ammonium bromide (Septonex (R)), Brij 35 or Sodium Dodecylsulphate (SDS). Various elution mixtures were also tested, the best results were obtained for the mixture of acetone and ethanol (1:1) in the presence of 1 mol.l(-1) HCl. The excess of acid and organic solvents were evaporated in Teflon (R) dishes prior to the determination by ICP-MS. The Thamnocephalus platyurus as THAMNOTOXKIT F (TM), Daphnia magna as a DAPHTOXKIT F (TM) and Artemia sauna as Artoxkit M (TM) are organisms, which were used for ecotoxicology assessment of water samples after mining of uranium.
