Abstract
The hypothesis is that the derived information obtained by a DECARTO model is more sensitive for the detection of subtle changes in QRS complex during PTCA as compared to the primary information of its X, Y, Z components. 202 Frank orthogonal ECGs were analysed in patients with single-vessel coronary artery disease, in the left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD), the right coronary arthery (RCA), the left circumflex coronary artery (LCx), before and during the balloon inflation of elective PTCA. X, Y, Z coordinates of instantaneous QRS vectors and QRS spatial vector magnitude at 10 ms intervals from the onset to the 60th ms of QRS were analysed. ECGs were transformed using a mathematical model DECARTO, and presented in a form of a rectangle (a matrix of 11 lines, 24 columns) at corresponding time intervals. For each point of this matrix the value of relative frequency of its occurrence in the activated state was calculated. While no significant difference before and during the peak balloon inflation was found in VCG parameters, significant difference was observed between base-matrix and peak-matrix in all subgroups of patients using Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, and in the RCA subgoup using the test for differences between population proportions.
