The first section of the contribution summarizes the history of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Informatics and the development of the concept of teaching mathematical and statistical courses in study programmes at the Faculty of Economics and Administration of Masaryk University in Brno. The second section analyses current problems in the teaching of mathematics caused by a significant reduction of its extent.

První část příspěvku shrnuje historii katedry aplikované matematiky a informatiky a vývoj koncepce výuky matematických a statistických disciplín na ESF MU. Druhá část analýzuje problémy výuky matematiky po výrazné redukci jejího rozsahu.
