Abstract
A significant portion of public budgets in Europe is spent on sport subsidies, both on central and local levels. Our paper investigates the transparency and reliability of the decision-making process in the allocation of sports grants on a municipal level in two European Union member countries – the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It demonstrates that the situation is improving, but some mechanism are still lacking, resulting in some risk of fraud.
