Abstract
In the original language
New analyses, such as this article, are beginning to show, that language cannot be an instrument of discrimination. Language can be a means of achieving dominance and manipulation. By utilizing this method of conversation analysis, we were able to dissect a dialogue transcription, in which a woman is dominant. We demonstrate several techniques an observer can implement to reveal verbal manipulation and maintaining control of the conversation. Our goal is to show the significance of gender in an area that some consider unorthodox, because comprehensive academic research into this new way to analyze gender discourse is just now beginning to occur.
