In the case of the Czech Republic, this demographical phenomenon is accompanied by structural changes on the labour market and the impact of the recent economic crisis. Selected active ageing policies have been implemented in an effort to decrease early exits from the labour market, however both employers and employees often take into account the difficult situation of the slowly recovering economy when considering their prolonged labour market activity. The age management as a tool to deal with an ageing workforce is already recognised by some of the larger employers, but considered to be rather unnecessary, as well as unaffordable by small and medium enterprises. Self-employment and part-time work of older workers have recently become important policies but they also put further pressure on the individual to deal with the risks and externalities. The older Czech workers are underrepresented in lifelong learning, especially those with less than secondary education. The transfer of good practices and the support from ESF, among others, are considered among the most effective courses of action. ER -
