The chemical composition of formed particles and their size distribution represent crucial parameters responsible for successful quantification in LA-ICP-MS. The properties of particles depend strongly on laser beam parameters and sample matrices. Moreover, the aerosol must be efficiently transported and ionized in ICP. This work deals with the investigation of particle size distribution of aerosol generated by nanosecond ArF laser ablation system at the wavelength of 193 nm. Three different types of standard reference materials (SRM) in term of matrix, namely NIST SRM 610 (glass), NIST SRM 1486 (bone meal) and SRM F4 (steel) were selected in order to study the size and concentration of newly formed particles.
