Abstract

Autor v kapitole věnované druhému životu Borise N. Čičerina sleduje, jak se proměňovalo vnímání tohoto významného ruského myslitele 2. poloviny 19. století ve světové odborné literatuře. Cílem není podat úplný a vyčerpávající souhrn sekundární literatury, ale podchytit hlavní tematické a obsahové tendence při interpretaci této problematiky. První ucelenější hodnocení Čičerinových společenských a odborných postojů vznikala v době, kdy byl Čičerin ještě v živé paměti a kdy byla přikládána váha především jeho pozdějším dílům. Odtud vycházelo jeho vnímání především jako významného znalce a teoretika práva. V ruském prostředí následně nadlouho převládlo jeho pojímání v rámci dějin dějepisectví a v rámci fenoménu nazvaného státní škola, ovšem takovým způsobem, který neprospěl k lepšímu pochopení ani Čičerinových názorů, ani státní školy jako celku. Tedy po „Čičerinovi-právníkovi“ se do popředí dostal „Čičerin-historik“, nicméně vnímaný především prizmatem jeho společenských a politických názorů. Západní věda při zkoumání Čičerina akcentovala až na ojedinělé výjimky politické otázky v jeho dílech. Čičerinovo pojetí ruských dějin bylo dosud zkoumáno buď ideologicky podmíněně, nebo mu bylo věnováno méně prostoru než ostatním tématům, jimž se Čičerin věnoval.

Abstract (in English)

Author, in his chapter devoted to the "second life" of Boris N. Chicherin, follows the changes in the perception in the global subject literature of this important Russian intellectual of the 2nd half of the 19th century. Its goal is not to provide a complete, exhaustive summary of the secondary literature, but rather to document the trends in themes and contents surrounding the interpretation of this subject. The first relatively comprehensive evaluations of Chicherin's societal and professional stances were written in the period when there were still contemporary witnesses of Chicherin's life and when it was mostly his later works that were esteemed. These evaluations perceived him mainly as an important legal expert and theoretician. After this, he was long primarily approached in Russia within the frameworks of historiography and of the phenomenon called the "state school"—and also in a way that did not help to improve the understanding of his ideas, or of the state school itself. Chicherin-the-lawyer was thus replaced with Chicherin-the-historian, nevertheless perceived primarily through the lens of his social and political views. Western research on Chicherin has, with rare exceptions, accented the political issues in his works. Chicherin's conception of Russian history has to date only been studied either through ideological lenses or as a minor topic alongside the other topics Chicherin covered.
