Abstract
The study shows that respondents score higher in the Autonomy Orientation subscale of the General Causal Orientations Scale (Deci & Ryan, 1985) when they are less likely to have actually experienced the events described in the vignettes. In addition, different items predict positive psychological outcomes in younger and older respondents.
