Abstract
This article deals with unresolved conflict on Abkhazia and puts emphasis on the issues at stake. The reason why this conflict has never reached a resolution rests upon contended issues at stake that have never subsided. Understanding the issues at stake in each phase of the conflict - starting with the latent conflict to the armed phase - is important if we want to explore why such conflicts can last over two decades and what the issues are that hamper the peaceful settlement of these disputes.
