V danom článku autor popisuje posledné mesiace druhej svetovej vojny z politického a vojenského hľadiska, a predovšetkým udalosti, ktoré viedli k dobytiu hlavného mesta Tretej ríše - Berlína. Toto mesto predstavovalo potenciálne jablko sváru medzi Sovietskym Zväzom na jednej strane a Veľkou Britániou a USA na strane druhej. Spojenci však nakoniec Berlín v duchu záverov Jaltskej konferencie prenechali Stalinovi, ktorý následne rozpútal preteky medzi svojim vlastnými maršalmi o získanie mesta.

In this article the author describes the last months of the WW2 in Europe and their political and military aspects, focusing especially on events which led to conquest of the capital of the German Third Reich - Berlin. This city has represented a potential reason for struggle and discord between Soviet Union on the one side, and USA and Great Britain on the other. But the Allies gave Berlin over to Stalin at the conference of Yalta, and Soviet dictator subsequently unleashed hard contest among his own high military commanders concerning its final capture.
