Routine preparation of the recurrent nerve, despite the knowledge of its variants, inprovement of the operation technique, usage of all modern technologies, did not enable total liquidation of this comlication of thyroidectomy.It has been significantly minimalized, and less patients with resurrent laryngeal nerve paresis will be dependent on the reduction of number of operations and their radicality thanks to advancementes in molecular biology and genetics, treatment of autoimmune diseases and sufficient supply of the iodine.
