Abstract
The aim of this study was to establish a magnetoreception conditioning assay in American cockroach (Periplaneta americana) and to find out the shortest functional interstimulus interval (ISI) of the conditioning setup. While untrained reaction to rotations of magnetic field (MF) consisted of insignificant immediate increase of locomotor activity, by means of fear conditioning paradigm we obtained trained animals responding conspicuously by decreasing of movement – „freezing“. We performed the series of experiments with different ISI (0, 2, 5 and 25 sec) and obtained the positive magnetically conditioned reaction in all, except for 25 sec.
