Abstract

Studie sleduje roli, kterou cyrilometodějská tradice hrála v politickém životě na Moravě v posledních dvou desetiletích před r. 1914, upozorňuje však také, jakými proměnami procházela v období od r. 1848. V době státoprávních zápasů a probíhajícího rakouského „Kulturkampfu“ na přelomu 60. a 70. let se cyrilometodějská idea stávala určitým pojítkem církevních a národně politických postojů i společného politického postupu. S postupnou emancipací katolického křídla české politiky na Moravě v podobě Katolické strany národní a i Křesťansko-sociální strany se v 90. letech cyrilometodějská tradice stala součástí a také předmětem politických zápasů mezi formujícím se katolickým a národně liberálním politickým táborem a po r. 1900 tato idea degenerovala v pouhý nástroj politického a volebního boje.

Abstract (in English)

This study examines the role which the Cyril and Methodius tradition played in the political life of Moravia in the final decades before 1914, while also drawing attention to the changes which occurred in the period after 1848. During the period of the constitutional-law struggles and the ongoing Austrian “Kulturkampf” at the end of the 1870s, the Cyril-Methodius idea became a point of contact between the religious and national political positions and joint political action. With the gradual emancipation of the Catholic wing of Czech politics in Moravia in the form of the Catholic National Party and the Christian-Social Party, the Cyril-Methodius tradition became part of the political struggle between the nascent Catholic and National-Liberal political camps in the 1890s and later this idea had degenerated to become a mere instrument of the political and electoral struggle.
