V originále

Nejčastějším typem maligního gliomu je glioblastom, který je ze všech gliomů prognosticky nejzávažnější. I přes pokroky ve vývoji různých léčebných postupů zůstává prognóza pacientů s tímto onemocněním velmi vážná, standardní léčbou zůstává u většiny pacientů kombinace operace, radioterapie a chemoterapie. Ke zlepšení léčebných výsledků jsou nutné další výzkum a klinické studie. Cílem tohoto sdělení je poukázat na nejvýznamnější směry ve výzkumu a novinky v léčbě tohoto nejčastějšího a zároveň nejzhoubnějšího primárního nádoru mozku dospělých.

Glioblastoma is the most common and serious primary brain cancer. Unfortunately, prognosis of this disease is grim even though advanced modern therapy approaches. Standard treatment consists of combination of neurosurgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Further research and clinical trials are needed to improve treatment outcomes. The aim of presented paper is to highlight the most important trends in the investigation of this disease.
