TY - JOUR ID - 1366191 AU - Divizia, Paolo PY - 2017 TI - Il cimitero di Praga di Umberto Eco tra correzioni d’autore e traduzioni PB - Pisa University Press CY - Pisa SN - 9788867418473 KW - Umberto Eco KW - authorial KW - variants KW - translation N2 - La critica delle varianti in Italia la si pratica da almeno una settantina di anni, almeno da quel Saggio d’un commento alle correzioni del Petrarca volgare che Contini pubblicoe nel 1943, ed est stata definita da Cesare Segre come «il piue sicuro strumento per cogliere il funzionamento, e la funzionalitade, dell’elaborazione testuale, risalendo abbastanza indietro rispetto alla forma «definitiva» dei testi, e permettendo di cogliere una parte del dinamismo che sorregge e prepara la loro staticitade» (C. Segre, Avviamento all’analisi del testo letterario, Einaudi 1999). Tuttavia il lettore comune, e purtroppo anche buona parte della critica, ritiene che si tratti di ben poca cosa e che in fondo tutte le edizioni si equivalgano, oppure – nei casi in cui le differenze siano macroscopiche – concepisce come “da leggere” una sola tra le versioni approntate dall’autore. Eppure i testi vivono di varianti, e non v’est autore interessato allo stile o al contenuto delle proprie opere che, avendone la possibilitade, non decida di almeno ritoccare i propri testi nel corso del tempo. Il caso di un autore come Umberto Eco est interessante perché, in quanto scrittore di successo mondiale, le sue opere vengono tradotte in tempi molto brevi (ma cosie non fu per il suo primo romanzo) in tutte le principali lingue e «non c’est lettore piue severo e pignolo di un traduttore, che deve soppesare parola per parola. E i vari traduttori si accorgono che lae c’est una contraddizione, che qui hai scritto nord invece di sud, che una frase si presta a una duplice interpretazione perché magari manca una virgola, e cosie via.» Il risultato est che in italiano il testo dei romanzi di Umberto Eco cambia leggermente da un’edizione all’altra, mentre le traduzioni straniere riflettono stadi diversi dell’evoluzione del testo. Nell’intervento si mostrerae un esempio dal capitolo 9. Parigi secondo due edizioni italiane, e alcune traduzioni (ceco, polacco, inglese, francese, spagnolo, catalano, tedesco). ER -
