Optimized reaction conditions, the sulfinate and alkene scope, and X-ray structural analyses of several reaction products are provided. A detailed spectroscopic study explains the reaction mechanism, which proceeds through the EY radical cation as key intermediate oxidizing the sulfinate salts. ER -
