Anotace
Although at foreign universities students write learning journals at various subjects and their reflective diaries are sometimes even part of their evaluation, it is not a common practice at Czech institutions. We introduced the concept of learning logs as a compulsory component of an English language course and we force our students to revisit their learning process, to explore their experiences, thoughts and feelings that have impact on their learning, and to develop their writing skills in English. My paper is going to present the way students themselves see the log writing. The qualitative approach will enable us a valuable insight into the depths of language learners´ metacognition that usually stays unrecognized by the teachers and often by the students themselves. The samples of students´ reflections demonstrate, among other aspects, their attitude and the progress in the attitude to reflective writing, which I would like to focus on.
