The lecture discussed the role of religion in political development of postcolonial Sri Lanka. Three main issues have been stressed: (1) National revival and creation of the Protestant Buddhism; (2) Walpola Rahula and establishment of the Political Buddhism; and (3) the role of political Buddhism in Sri Lankan civil war (1983-2009).
