Abstract

Tento text se zaměřuje na problematiku postojů vůči sebevraždě v kontextu otázky hříchu, svědomí a individualizace. Významové posuny v pojetí těchto fenoménů jsou sledovány na základě teologických a morálněfilosofických textů, a to ve čtyřech rovinách: 1. (Ne)tematizace sebevraždy v teologii a homiletice 17. a 18. století; 2. sebevražda v reformní teologii konce 18. století; 3. otázka pokání; 4. dobrá smrt a vlastní zodpovědnost za spásu duše. Autor ukazuje, že v poslední třetině 18. století, kdy se fenoménu sebevraždy začala věnovat větší pozornost, docházelo k psychologizaci diskursu a že teologové i filosofové stále častěji poukazovali na škodlivost určitých nábožensko-meditativních technik, které podle nich vzbuzují příliš živou imaginaci a mohou vést k melancholii a zoufalství.

Abstract (in English)

The text considers attitudes to suicide in the context of questions of sin, conscience and individualization. It traces the changing perceptions of the meaning of these phenomena through theological and moral-philosophical texts, and does so on four levels: (1) suicide as a theme in 17th and 18th-c. theology and homiletics; (2) suicide in the reformist theology of the late 18th c.; (3) the question of penance; (4) the good death and individual responsibility for the salvation. The author shows that in the last three decades of the 18th c., the discourse on the suicide assumed a more psychological tone, with theologians and philosophers increasingly drawing attention to the harm done by certain religious and meditative techniques which in their view overexcited the imagination and could result in melancholy and despair.
