N2 - Companies credit innovation as a major source of their success. However, not all innovations provide profit for companies. This is often due to a company’s lack of understanding of consumer needs, understanding and acceptance of the innovation. Innovative behaviour and innovativeness of consumers as a research has been studied for several decades and relatively substantial body of knowledge exists currently. However, the concept of circular economy brings up new aspects of innovative behaviour. The focus shifts from adaptation of new products to adaptation of a new business concept, and to the new product-service offers delivered by the new business processes. Companies who wish to transfer from the linear models to the circular ones need to understand the behavioural patterns of consumers who are most likely to adopt innovations rising from the circular economy principles. This paper aims to review the existing literature related to innovative consumer behaviour and formulate relevant research questions and agenda for future research on innovative behaviour in a circular economy context.
