Abstract
V originále
Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) was applied to the study of otoliths. Otoliths are small earstones of fish. The otolith is one of the most important tools for understanding the life of fish and fish population. Samples were taken from marine fish Sebastes pinniger (tribe Scorpaenidae) and Trisopterus luscus (tribe Gadidae). The goal of this work was to find out representation of individual elements in otoliths and their concentration. 2D maps concentrations of individual elements and their ratios were created. Matrix elements (Ca, Mg, P, K) and trace elements (Na, Mn, Fe, Sr, Ba, Zn) were monitored. Maps of ratios Ba/Ca and Sr/Ca make us possible to follow distribution of these elements which indicated to change of different salinity conditions. Manganese is regarded for element which determined core of otolith. Manganese has increased concetration in core of otolith compared to stroncium. Based on created maps we can obtain informations about life of the fish and also age of fish.
