Pitva zůstává i přes existenci moderních zobrazovacích a dalších diagnostických metod, základní vyšetřovací metodou soudního lékařství a patologické anatomie. V tomto krátkém přehledu budou stručně představeny základní eviscerační, tak pitevní techniky, stejně jako neinvazivní a mini invazivní metody, kterou jsou v posmrtné diagnostice často využívány.

The autopsy remains despite the existence of modern imaging and other diagnostic methods, the basic examination method of forensic medicine and pathological anatomy. In this brief overview, the basics will be briefly introduced both evisceration and autopsy techniques, as well as non-invasive ones and mini-invasive methods, which are often used in post-mortem diagnosis.
