The textbook “Grammatical Structures in English: Meaning in Context” explores the grammatical structure of the English language from a functional and communicative point of view. The main focus is on the differences between spoken and written language, formal and informal style, and personal and impersonal discourse, as well as on linguistic theories dealing with cohesion, speech acts and functional sentence perspective. The textbook also includes activities aiming at the analysis of grammatical structures in context, exercises for practicing complex grammatical structures and a bilingual Czech-English and English-Czech glossary of basic linguistic terms.

Skripta „Grammatical Structures in English: Meaning in Context“ seznamují studenty se syntaktickou strukturou anglického jazyka z funkčního a komunikativního hlediska. Zaměřují se na rozdíly mezi psaným a mluveným, formálním a neformálním, osobním a neosobním způsobem vyjadřování, na teorii koheze, mluvních aktů a funkční perspektivy větné. Všechny jevy jsou procvičovány na základě autentických textů. Skripta dále nabízí analýzu větných struktur v kontextu a nácvik složitějších gramatických struktur a obsahují terminologický slovník a česko-anglický slovník nejdůležitějších lingvistických termínů.
